Tom Petty Dies Aged 66

Rock legend Tom Petty has died aged 66. Petty who suffered a heart attack at his home later died in hospital after his life support was switched off. The rockstar was found by his second wife Dana York whom he married in 2001.

Petty was a world renowned rock star, with a career spanning from the 1970’s up until present day. He had recently just completed a world tour which saw him visit cities all over America, the U.K and Europe.

Petty performed as Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, and the bands last album was released in 2014 and it was the bands first album to top the charts in The States. However Petty had recently said about his want to cut back on his work load in order to spend more time with his young granddaughter.

He spoke to Rolling Stone in December and said ‘have a granddaughter now I’d like to see as much as I can. I don’t want to spend my life on the road. This tour will take me away for four months. With a little kid, that’s a lot of time.’

The rockstar had influenced many musicians around the world, with many taking to Twitter to pay tributes to the late rocker.
