The terrifying moment a young tourist is attacked by a crocodile whilst walking along a shoreline has been caught on camera.

The attack occurred in Queensland’s notorious far north.

Ally Bullifent from Wiltshire uploaded the footage of a 2.5-metre saltwater crocodile leaping out of the water at Cape Tribulation beach and attacking her friend, to her social media.

The 24-year-olds were walking along the water’s edge filming a mudflapper on the shore, unaware of the crocodile lurking only inches away.

Luckily Miss Bullifents friend managed to escape the ordeal with cuts to her thighs.

Mossman Hospital, 66 kilometres south of Cape Tribulation, later confirmed it had treated a 24-year-old woman for a bite and said she has since been released.

According to the Cairns post, a spokeswoman for the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection said wildlife officers would carry out a site assessment of the area today, to target the animal for removal.

“Under the current Queensland Crocodile Management Plan, Cape Tribulation is in Zone E – general management zone, In Zoe E, crocodiles displaying dangerous behaviour are targeted for removal.”

Capture crocodiles are generally sent to crocodile farms or zoos.
